It is legally required for all employers in Egypt to provide a written employment contract for every employee. These contracts need to be written in the country’s official language of Arabic, use the currency of the Egyptian pound, and include any relevant details such as working hours, compensation, benefits, and so on.

Employees in Egypt who have worked for their employer for at least six months can generally take 21 days of paid vacation leave per year. If they have 10 years with an employer, or are over the age of 50, then they are entitled to one month (30 days) of leave. After five years of service, employees are also entitled to a one-off month of religious leave for pilgrimages.
Employees in Egypt are entitled to six months of paid sick leave, compensated at a rate of at least 75% of their normal salary or wage.
When terminating employees in Egypt, the case must be taken to the Ministry of Manpower and Migration, which has 15 days to make a decision. The decision can also be contested by the employee.
Employees are also entitled to a notice period prior to termination, which varies depending on their length of service. For those with under ten years of experience, there is a mandatory 60-day notice period. For those with more than ten years of service, the minimum is 90 days.
Probation periods in Egypt are limited to three months.
In Egypt, both employees and employers must contribute to social security, and the contributions vary depending on salary. For employers, the contribution is either 24% or 26% of salary, and for employees, it is either 11% or 14%.
Income tax in Egypt is progressive, and the rates are between 0% and 25%, depending on income level.
Corporate tax in Egypt is 22.5%.
Egyptians receive free medical care, so employees do not need to provide private insurance.
The minimum wage in Egypt is 6,000 Egyptian pounds per month for full-time workers.
